Youth Training

Youth life skills training and mentorship

There is no denying that youth unemployment in Kenya today is a ticking time-bomb! Thousands of young people continue to be discharged in to the job market every year from the universities and tertiary institutions. The education system has trained and socialized them to anticipate employment after school. Most of them are not psychologically prepared for anything less. The reality of our economy is that employment opportunities are minimal and cannot meet the existing demand. . The government has responded to this challenge through various interventions such the youth fund and Access to Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO). Other stakeholders have also made significant contributions; but by and large, a majority of Kenya’s young people continue to languish in idleness in the villages, where they are easily attracted to indulge in drugs and substance abuse as well as being easily lured into illegal groups and movements that promise an escape from their reality. . We believe it is the high time to supplement the government’s and stake-holders’ efforts with a Life Skills Program that empowers the young people to shift their expectations from employment and think job creation instead. This is an intense and targeted approach aimed at a complete Mindset Change! We have developed a proposal to partner with the government and willing stakeholders to empower the youth through a four module workshop covering a range of life skills. . This is a practical course which enables young people to connect with their untapped potential, make the right choices and take responsibility to create a life of their dreams. It removes the participant from the sub-conscious default setting where the adults in their lives; parents, guardians, teachers etc determine the direction of their lives and places the responsibility squarely on the shoulders of the young people themselves.
